Some regulations on using foreign-owned Yachts in Turkish Marinas
If you leaving your Yacht in Turkish Marinas!
 


TURKEY WILL BE ON YOUR YACHT'S ROUTE
You can charter a crewed or bareboat yacht in Turkey, or you can come to Turkey on your own yacht. Please refer to Turkish Embassy or consulates in your country to find out whether or not you are subject to visa requirement in accordance with Turkey's reciprocity schedule for your nationality.

WELCOME TO TURKEY
All yachts are required to enter and leave Turkey through the border gates.

Hopa, Rize, Trabzon, Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Inebolu, Sinop, Bartin, Zonguldak, Eregli, Istanbul, Tekirdag, Derince, Gemlik, Mudanya, Bandirma, Çanakkale, Akçay, Ayvalık, Dikili, Izmir, Kuşadası, Didim, Güllük, Bodrum, Datça, Marmaris, Fethiye, Kaş, Finike, Kemer, Antalya, Alanya, Anamur, Bozyazı, Taşucu, Mersin, Botaş, lskenderun.

ENTERING TURKEY
If you want to enter Turkey coming from international harbors and waters; you are required to obtain a Yacht Registration Certificate and fill out this certificate, which includes information about yachts and yachters, as shown in instructions and to complete Customs, Passport, Coast Welfare and Harbor procedures that are in consistence with international regulations and subject to your declaration. Yacht Registration Fee: 30 US Dollars.

Validity period of Yacht Registration Certificate is one year. However, in the event that owner of the yacht changes or yacht goes out of Turkish Customs Zone or in case of the loss of Yacht Registration Certificate, certificate's validity period expires. In such cases, it is possible to obtain a new yacht registration certificate.

YOUR CRUISES BETWEEN TURKISH HARBORS IN TURKISH TERRITORIAL WATERS
You as a yacht owner and your guests on board are allowed to cruise between the harbors in Turkish territorial waters, as long as it is with the purpose of traveling, sports and entertainment, notforcommercial purposes.

In your cruise, as long as there is no change in captain, crew or yächtsman, you can voyage to other bays on your route, excluding forbidden zones, withoutfurther procedures.

In the event that there occurs a change of captain, yachtsman, crew or your route, you must certainly refer to the Harbor Director and have the change approved.

Yachts owned by more than one person, foreign flagged private yachts and yachts that belong to associations, federations or clubs can be used by a maximum offourowners in ayear.

If you are in our country with your yacht and you want to extend your visa period; you can extend your visa period by declaring a Ministry of Culture and Tourism approved yacht harbor or a yacht docking area as your address. In that case your residence and visa period can be at most five years in connection with the mooring contract you signed with yacht harbor or yacht docking area.

You can also use your private car in Turkey during your residence and visa period, by informing Customs Directorate.

If you want to leave Turkey temporarily by your yacht, you can leave your land vehicle, if any, at the places that are in customs supervision.

If it is needed that you or your family be taken to or be broughtfrom another harbor, your captain, upon your written or faxed directive, with the sailing permission of Harbor Directorate, can use your yacht for round-trip from one harbor to another Turkish harbor when it is empty, without taking any guests or yachters.

Unless there is a complaint or informing duly placed against you regarding carrying contraband, a search or property inspection in your yacht cannot be made.

However, if it's found that you carry merchandise that is illegal to bring into Turkey, by your declaration or an informing placed, this merchandise is put into customs supervision and it is not returned until you leave Turkey.

In case of urgent entering and leavings due to cases of emergency, unforeseen events or obligations arise from the Law regarding Securing Life and Property in Sea, a declaration about the situation is required to be made to the Turkish Authorities in firstplace arrived.

DIVING REGIONS
All kinds of equipped diving are subject to permission in Turkish Waters. For more information and diving regions please contact City Directorate of Culture and Tourism and Advisory Directorate.

CHANGES IN THE YACHT INVENTORY LIST
In case of a change in your yacht's original inventory for any reason (repair etc), during the time period your yacht is in Turkey, necessary changes on the Yacht Registration Certificate will be made by Customs Officer.

Spare parts and other equipment of your yacht can stay in Turkey as long as your yacht is in Turkey.

In the event that you want to take the repairs and maintenance spare parts out of Turkey Customs Zone, they should be recorded in the Inventory List of the yacht. Also according to the 164th article of Customs Law, numbered 4458, you can leave old spare parts at Customs Directorate.

 

LEAVING YACHTS IN TURKISH MARINAS
Foreign flagged yachts can be left i n Turkey up to 5 years without a need för permission; provided that yaeht sail at least once in every 2 years by the owner.

During those periods you can leave your yacht at a Ministry of Culture and Tourism licensed yacht harbor or yacht docki ng area and leave the country.

LEAVING THE COUNTRY
While going to International Harbors from Turkish harbors the relevant section of the Yacht Registration Certificate should be completed and it should be certified by Harbor Director. Then you can complete the leaving procedures at Customs Directorate.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. It's unlawful to use your private yacht for commercial purposes without the permission of Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

2. It's unlawful to collect money for the yacht tours from the persons initial ly stated as guests. 3. Any statement not in accordance with the truth will require legal action.

4. Taking historical artifacts out of Turkey is a crime and will require legal action.

5. It's unlawful to buy inventory from other yachts and ships which hadn't completed customs processes.

We would like to remind that, these undertakings are unlawful according to International and Turkish laws, legal action will be taken in accordance with Republic of Turkey laws.
